Gymboree Round 2

I decided to give Gymboree another try. This time we went with a friend and had a great time. Emily showed him the ropes because she is a Gymboree pro. Instead of the music class we went to last time this one was geared to movement and play. He LOVED climbing up, over, under, and around everything in the place. We also had a major milestone today..... I think he finally realized that I'm his mommy! YEAH! He actually looked around to make sure that I was still close by. Usually he just goes on about his business but, not today. Of course I did have to wake him up about 45 minutes early from his nap so that may have played a tiny little role in his neediness. Either way I loved it!
Push and Push and Push.... YEAH!

I wonder if I can climb over this?

Clean up clean up!

Bubbles!

Hey Emily! Wait for me!

Finally! Steps I can climb!

Lunch Date at Chic-Fil-A

Whew! What a day!

10 steps in a row! Holly Cow!

My Baby is walking!
It's official! He is starting to walk! What an amazing acheivement it is. It's hard to believe just a few months ago I was excited when he was sitting up on his own. Then he started to roll around on the floor and then it was on to bigger and better things like crawling. I can't even express how happy I am to be able to witness this milestone with my own eyes. Staying home with Owen is something that I don't take for granted. I love seeing all of his firsts and wouldn't trade it for the world. We are enjoying him so much at this stage and try too pause certain moments to soak them in because he is growing to fast.
Now it's time to do some shoe shopping! I can't wait to get him his first pair of ultra cool kicks!

August Playdate

Owen had friends over this morning. He is one of the oldest kids by atleast 3 months. The other babies are just learning to crawl. "Sucks for you" says Owen! He just bull dozes right past them . Takes their toy and keeps on going. We are going to have to work on manners. He had a great time with all 10 babies. Yep that's right there were 10 mommies and 10 babies over today. It was a lot of fun swaping stories. The best part was he got to see his girlfriend Emily. We haven't seen her in awhile but, if all goes as planned we are going to hang out on Friday.
The pictures aren't my best :) But it's hard getting babies too stay still!

Poor Baby!

It's been a rough 2 days in the Hanson household. Poor Owen is sick! Tuesday night night he started running a mild fever so we gave him some Tylenol to help with the fever. He woke up at 6:00 a.m. Wednesday morning burning up! It was very scary. We went to the Doctors office first thing Wednesday morning. The doctor said his ears were perfect and so was his throat. All good news! Yet we still didn't know what was causing the fever. I told the Doctor that he was teething. She didn't think that would cause his fever to be so high. She decided to do a blood test to see if it was viral or bacterial. UH'OH! The nurse came in to prick his finger and I think I felt it as much as he did. I did have a debate with myself while waiting for the nurse if I should make a run for it or not. It's hard to be the mommy and watch your baby get stuck with a needle. My little guy was brave and gave me a big hug when it was over. I was glad he wasn't mad at me! 10 minutes later the doctor came back in and said that it must be viral because of his white blood cell count. She said to keep doing what I have been doing and to watch for signs of dehydration. He is feeling a little bit better today. No fever but, still a little cranky. He took a really long nap from 12:30 until 4:00. I was so worried that he was sleeping so long that I kept going in his room to check on him to make sure everything was alright. Fingers crossed that he will be all better by tomorrow! Now if only that top tooth would make its appearance...
Look at his boo-boo from the needle : (

It's a hard knock life!

We run a tight ship around here.... as soon as you can crawl you can clean!

My parents went on vacation and all I got was this T-shirt!

How cute is he in his Carlos and Charlie shirt? His shirt says Squeeze me I like it!
Mommy and Daddy having fun without Owen! But we were thinking about him : )

11 months old already?

I shouldn't be surprised. I know he has to grow up and get big but why does it have to happen so fast? Last night he let me rock him to sleep for the first time in months. I realized that he was no longer that tiny little guy that kept me up all night. He's turning into a big boy that hardly fits on my lap. I rocked him a little longer than I would have before... trying to remember everything. I was afraid he wouldn't let me do it again.

11 months have flown by! Just this morning I looked and he was standing next to his toy basket pondering which one he wanted to play with. He's also starting to let go if the furniture and take steps to get to around. There will be lots of bumps and bruises in our future. I know people say that if that the worst thing that happens to consider yourself lucky... but, at that moment there is nothing worse than you child being hurt. I don't know what I'm going to do when he starts walking! I think I am going to have to pad the house : )

What a joy he has been! It hasn't always been easy and there is still so much to learn but I can't wait to see what's next!

Week without mom and dad

So we did it... we actually left him for a week with my parents while we went on a little vacation of our own. James and I were both surprised by how much we missed him. I don't think a day went by that we both didn't say that we missed Owen. I was really sad the first few days. I knew that he was going to be just fine but, I still worried. I left him in his capable grandparents hands with about a million and one instructions and told them to take tons of pictures while we were gone. Apparently Owen had a blast. He made a lot of new friends at the pool, had homemade waffles for breakfast, strolled by the bay, and had everyones undivided attention. We are so glad that he had a great time but, how can we compete with that!!
While we were gone.....
Owen became a shark wrestler
Dined on waffles for breakfast

Played with Bailey

2 little steps

Not only is he standing on his own a little more everyday he is starting to take a few steps by himself!!! How can this all be happening so fast? While he was showing me how he can stand by himself he also showed me that he can take 2 steps in my direction. I held out my arms and he walked into them. So sweet!!! When James came home I was so happy that he showed his daddy how he could walk.

Look MOM!!! NO HANDS!

Over the last couple of weeks Owen has been getting brave. I've noticed that he has started to only use one hand to hold onto things. Once he got the hang of that he started letting go for a second or two at a time. He got really brave today and stood by himself for a good 8 seconds. I was so proud of him I had to see if he could do it again for the camera. Of course in true Owen Hanson fashion he wasn't about to let his fans down!!! He stood again and gave a smile. As proud and happy as I was it was just a little reminder that my baby boy is growing up. I'm sure we are in for a lot of fun. Here are the pics from his big milestone.
I think I can do it!

Almost there!

I did it!!!
