You make me smile: Tuesday

You make me smile : )
Oh Owen how you make me smile at the silly things you do!
Today you wanted to wear your green shirt that was too small...
your shorts that were too big...
blue crocs....
and best of all your Yellow Nascar hat!
Mommy isn't a big fan of that yellow Nascar hat...
but you are!
This is that hat that you chose out of the treasure chest at the doctors office after your surgery...
So mommy just has to smile and let you wear it : )
You make me smile with your new "big boy ways"
You make me smile!!!!!!!

Easter Egg Hunt

It's that time of year again!!! Time for the Easter Bunny, Peeps, and best of all Easter Egg Hunts!! Owen was excited to pick up the eggs that the Easter Bunny had left. This year he picked up all the eggs himself and put them in his basket. Every egg he picked up he said the color. The weather couldn't have been better!! It was a perfect Carolina day with beautiful blue skies!!! Hooray for Spring!!!
Waiting for the hunt to begin!!!
Flashback...2009 He looks so handsome in his pink shirt!!
Still waiting for his turn...
Picking up an orange egg!
Flashback...2009Inspecting his purple egg.

Girl Scout Cookies

I sure do love Girl Scout Cookies!! Luckily for me there are plenty of girl scouts outside or Walmart, Target, and Harris Teeter just waiting to sell me their box of cookie crack! I just can't resist the siren song of Girl Scout Cookies. My personal favorites are the Thin Mints! It seems that someone else in our house shares my love for the delicious treats that come in the green box.... Owen sure does love these hockies!!! That's Owenese for cookies! He stands at the freezer door chanting Hockies...Hockies! As much as it pains me to share one of my favorite treats how can I resist giving him one. After all I love hockies too!

Look who stole the show

On Sunday our family of 3 went to the JC Raulston Arboretum to have Maternity pictures taken to celebrate baby H part deux pending arrival. I thought it was important to capture some photos of our excitement about our newest member. I'm so glad I did it.... now the belly has some fancy photos that are frame worthy for the wall. For all of our NC peeps I highly recommend Annie Harrison to capture pictures of your little ones. She was amazing with Owen and he had the best time posing in front of her camera. In fact he stole the show!! He's just so darn photogenic!! It was so much fun capturing a few moments of our little family of 3. (soon to be 4)
Here is a sneak Peak of Owen's pictures! Maternity Pics to come soon.

100,000 Baby names

According to this book there are 100,000 baby names!!! Naming a baby shouldn't be hard because right here in this book there are 100,000 to pick from!! Once you sort the girl names from the boy names you are left with around half. Then you have the names that are just strange! Names like...
Burney... Burney Hanson???
Darkon...Darkon Hanson???
Jubal...Jubal Hanson???
Nesbitt...Nesbitt Hanson???
Once you sort through all the names that you don't even know how to pronounce you are down to around 50. That's not a lot!!! Half of those names we already nixed when I was pregnant with Owen. It's hard to forget why we didn't like them the first time around. With Owen the name just felt right from the beginning. I would say it out loud and smile!! Owen... it just fit...it was perfect! This time I'm not getting the same feeling. Baby Hanson deserves the most perfect name too. So I will continue my search and not settle for less than the best.
At one point we thought we had the perfect name! It felt right! It felt perfect! We were excited.... We were thrilled.... We had to reconsider!!! Once someone pointed out that another famous or not so famous person shared the same name.
Remember these guys? It's the ultra cool Hanson band!! They strike again only this time to ruin my most perfect baby name. I just can't do it to the poor little guy. One Zach Hanson is enough. So it's back to the drawing board for us....
We have 10 weeks to come up with the perfect name! Time to panic!!!!

Baby Obsessions

I am so in love with the Baby Jogger City Select Double Stroller!!! It's on my wish list...let's hope James is feeling generous!!! This stroller is the best of both worlds!! It can be a single stroller or a double stroller! Perfection!!!! It will be perfect for 2 little ones during our out and about trips. I even think Owen will love the fact that his seat can face out and it's is still plenty big height wise. I don't see us outgrowing this stroller for awhile!

Adventures in Potty Training

All men need a good magazine to read!
We are just now starting to potty train Owen. It's not been something that I have been looking forward to. In fact I dread it!!! Public toilets gross me out, accidents in public stress me out, and the whole thing seems so overwhelming!!! I mean he still fits in diapers so no rush : ) But I digress.... he is ready. All the signs are there! So now I'm armed with some cars pull ups and some way cool Elmo big boy underwear and we are ready to take on PT! (aka potty training) "Can I get some privacy please?"

Potty Mishaps to date:

1) Sometimes Pee goes up!!! Who knew!?!

2) Sometimes poop gets on the steps!! (Don't ask)

3) Farts are funny : )

4) Fountains in the bathtub are hilarious!

5) Saying potty gets you out of going to bed!

I'm sure that there will be many more blog posts about our adventures in potty training!!

To be continued!!!

Belly Update

Here's baby Hanson part duex at 28 weeks! We visited Dr. Diegan to have one last ultrasound. This time he was checking for heart defects. Baby H got a clean bill of health!! His heart looks strong and healthy! We were thrilled with that news. He is continuing to grow at a normal pace and is estimated to weigh around 2lbs. He is definetly making himself known these days!!! I'm feeling a lot of kicks and jabs. I had forgotten how much fun it is to watch my belly move. In other good news I passed the glucose screening for gestational diabetes!!!! I was really worried because all baby H wants me to eat is brownies, cake, and mashed potatoes. I'm more than happy to give baby what he wants!!
In other news I have started to see a chiropractor for Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction . It's been kinda painful to walk or even sit. I feel so guilty because I can't pick Owen up anymore without it aching!! The visits to the chiropractor seem to be helping right now and Owen likes to go to the office with me to see Thomas the choo choo. So it's a win win for everyone : ) I'm hoping my "dysfunction" goes away once baby H makes his appearance!!
In preparation for baby H we have started decorating the nursery! It's so cute! James did a fantastic job of painting the room yellow and hanging up the cutest green gingham curtains!! He's quite the handy man these days!!! It's all coming together nicely and now we need a few pictures to hang on the wall. Our next big project will be making the closet baby friendly!!

Matching Rug

We are all getting excited for Baby H's big arrival. Owen loves to go into the baby room and say "baby bruder room"... it melts my heart every time! Things are really starting to move fast and we are making so much progress getting ready for the little guy. I had so much fun picking out new things for our registry at Babies R Us and Target. There are so many new things since Owen was born! My friend Jen was kind enough to host a joint shower for me and my friend Andrea since our boys are coming so close together and My wonderful neighbors have also offered to throw baby H a shower!!! James and I feel so special to have such wonderful friends!!!

A is for Asthma

Poor little Owen has been sick with a cold. Usually when he gets a cold we pull out the nebulizer and give him some albuterol for a few days. This time it has been different. We have had to give him albuterol every 4 hours and it wasn't helping like it should. This is his second cold in 2 weeks so his lungs are really inflamed. We realized that the albuterol wasn't working it's magic so we made an appointment to see his doctor. I asked if it was too soon to diagnosis him with Asthma and Dr. Guessnar said that it was exactly what he was thinking. So we left that appointment with an asthma diagnosis and a prescription for Pulmicort. Dr. Guessnar is hoping that since it's not activity or allergy induced that he may only need to take it daily during the cold and flu season. Poor little guy!! I was hoping he would avoid the same fate that his mommy and daddy had when they were little!!
